Yolanda M Lawas

As a ceramic artist, Yolanda Lawas enjoys creating sculptural and functional pottery that evokes joy and wonder. She is inspired to create pottery that promotes well-being, peace, love, and connection. In addition to making full-sized pieces, Yolanda delights in producing miniature forms. She works with stoneware and porcelain on a full-sized wheel and also handbuilds. She believes that all people – young, old, and in between – should regularly experience awe as well as nurture joy and love within themselves. She hopes that this, along with playfulness, are reflected in her work. Entries 1 and 2 feature Barbara MacGuigan, who works with various media and creates multi-media art forms. In knitting, she finds a satisfying peace and enjoys the entire process – from choosing needle weight to the yarn’s material, color, and weight. Each purposeful choice affects the final piece. Through collaboration, Barbara feels her work is elevated and is excited to share her knitted forms in clay.
