Lauren Ackerman

My work explores the often solitary, winding path one follows toward enlightenment. I find myself a storyteller in my pieces; the story is not one created by me but expressed through me, and it is revealed throughout the creation of each piece. I am interested in the rhythms of naturally occurring patterns that, though as humans we seek to separate ourselves, we are intrinsically linked. Life is a series of transformations and rebirths, and as the vessel degrades over time, conversely the spirit can grow and flourish with age. I explore the form as it functions like a vessel, both literally and figuratively, and the quest to understand that all we need to attain true happiness is already contained within ourselves.
