As an artist, I approach my work through process, research and everyday life integrating elements of play, chance and the body in movement. My body of work involves research and experimentation focusing on the exploration of an object’s changing or permanent character with the purpose of destructing and/or building new stabilities. Through sculpture, I use the module as a tool that allows for variation and experimentation in terms of shape, color, angularity and size of every piece. The shapes present in my work are structured because of their geometric influence. They invite the observer to read between dots and lines. However, this contrasts heavily with the organic element that arises through the process that characterizes every material I use. Understand that I tend to create in function of the material I am using, the inherent symbolic qualities it offers and the relationships it maintains with the context of each piece. My work is not reduced to a specific technique or material, rather it exposes the transmutation of matter, of the material as the work of art itself. Furthermore, my body of work is fueled by the contrasts between form and material, the transformation of matter in the process, as well as the exploration of the body from a perspective that considers materiality and the human condition.
