The Clay Studio : Shop

As an artist, I am inspired by things from daily life. This everyday reality around us, which may be expressed in trivial objects such as utensils that can be found in a kitchen shelf, fascinates me and may be a reason to create an object. These utensils are used to make imprints on clay and form together with other imprints the basis of my work. I give insignificant objects a new and different right to exist. Many of the materials I use have been disposed of, thrown away or given away. By combining materials something is formed, something different, art. The works I make have elements in them of something monstrous, bestial but also human, like artificial hair or fake fingernails. At the same time these fake things that humans use to beautify themselves can have a semblance of monstrosity: vice versa some plants that look like monstrous insects may have a certain beauty in it. I derive great pleasure from simply looking. My direct environment influences this as well as my work. My experiences are the reason for creation, after which an intuitive chain reaction results in the ultimate work.I translate my observations into three-dimensional works using materials such as clay and porcelain. I am still following my own dreams of another imaginative world and what it might look like. This study into a new habitable universe is almost inevitable because so many discovered and undiscovered worlds remain in my head. My intention is to shape them all.
