Marsha Lederman

I am a Rhode Island School of Design alumni, and a life-long drawer, painter, and sculptor. I’ve worked as an illustrator and enjoy working on concepts to communicate ideas. More recently I’ve transitioned to working in ceramics. I love working with the malleability and various hues of a range of clay bodies to form my work which is inspired by both the nature around me and in the world at large. Using underglazes, slips, glazes and sometimes wire or found objects, I like to contrast the hue and texture of the bare clay. My creatures, which are sometimes realistic, sometimes whimsical, are always intended to convey to others what inspires me in nature, forms, and characters, and make a connection. I have a fondness for working small as it can feel more personal and intimate. My work currently is juried into the Scope Gallery, at the Torpedo Factory, in Alexandria, VA where I show alternate months as well as participating in various shows each year.
