Kathleen OHara

All my work is conceptually based. Though I began as a painter, I have expanded to include many media with an emphasis on materials encountered in daily life. When I begin a project, I pursue it in which-ever media suits the content…no rules (clay, paper, pencil, wood, fabric, glitter, found materials, etc.). I often use pattern and repetition in my work. As for content, I am interested in what is real and what is false, what is familiar and what occurs when the familiar becomes the Freudian “unheimlich” or literally not at home or uncomfortable. I ask viewers to look beyond what is initially seen and to investigate the space between perception and reality.
