My visual work attempts to explain the seemingly inexplicable. I construct small monuments, objects, and relics from ideas and concepts that are enigmatic, or, typically unobserved. These frequently disregarded artifacts are treated with a manifested sense of romanticism and reverence. I derive imagery from a multitude of sources including religion, science, myth, superstition, history, and fate. The materials I use also hold specific connotations. Clay embraces the vastness of history and provides a sense of grounding. It becomes an important means with which to discuss intangible concepts. By utilizing this material, a conversation about time emerges. I convince the viewer to believe in the strange associations of interacting objects, therefore fabricating a perplexing sense of time and animation. I utilize techniques of stacking, covering, hiding, and replicating as a means to reveal the desperation of weighed down thoughts or incomprehensible moments. The viewer is then asked to draw their own conclusions about a fictitious parallel universe I have created when the objects are physically situated in a communal space.
