Kathryn Schroeder

KATHRYN SCHROEDER is a ceramics artist based in Omaha, NE. This new body of Schroeder's ceramic work juxtaposes imagery of eggs, nests, seeds, and hexagonal wall shields, working from the metaphor body as vessel. Objects which are thought of as containers of space are in themselves poetic. She has exhibited with Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in NE, Northern Clay Center in MN, the American Craft Council, Carbondale Clay Center in CO, The International Dinnerware Design Museum in MI, Haystack Mountain School of Craft in MA, American Craft Council in MN, and has presented and exhibited with The National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts. Schroeder has been an artist-in-residence at Art Farm and Creighton University and is a 2020 recipient of the United States Artist Relief Grant, a CERF+ Grant, a Populus Fund Grant from the Union for Contemporary Art and a micro-grant from Amplify Arts. Her work has also been published in American Craft magazine and featured by Studio Potter magazine. Schroeder received her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and has done graduate work at both Illinois State University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
