Coffee in a favorite mug starts my day. The way it feels in my hand - the curve of the handle, the rim on my lips, the silhouette of the bowl… Clay, at first so pliable, becomes “frozen” once fired- but how to capture that liquid essence? Enjoy creating functional pieces. My forms are fluid, soft and round. They want to be touched...Stoneware and porcelain are coaxed into organic, billowy shapes. Simple glazes or atmospheric firings enhance the surface. The flames in wood, salt and pit firings add direction and movement. I use subtle glaze combinations when firing in gas or electric kilns
