One-of-a-kind thrown and altered ceramic vessel made during a residency in Longquan, China, the birthplace of celadon glaze. The work is made from the region’s porcelain-like, historic, “Little Brother Clay” and a local, secret light blue celadon recipe. The form is in the style of Ming Dynasty ceramics. Subtle shifts in color and texture evoke mineral deposits and the color of the sky. The piece reflects the artist’s ongoing interest in landscape, cultural memory, and the relationship between natural forces and human intervention.
