Three wheelthrown unglazed vessels of raku clay were fired in individual saggars in either raku or electric kiln. Once placed in their individual saggars, ceramic colorants and various combustibles were added including offbeat things like banana peels and seaweed from Long Island Sound. During the firing the materials reacted with the surface of the pots and left behind various colors and patterns in unpredictable and sometime dramatic ways. The pots were then given a coat of wax to enhance the effects.
