Creating my own concoction of slip, I've created a series of ceramic sculptures I call "slipknots." I knotted ropes I then coated in slip and fired via a burnout process. Working with rope as material contains painful connotations for me. By burning the material in the kiln, I am releasing these memories and am, in turn, left with small, fragile, ethereal sculptures.
