The miniature shows a Katari in typical desert costume (´dischdasha´) and a black and gold ´bisht´. (Clothing of the Emir of Qatar). He is holding an iPad in his left hand and his right hand is raised as if to touch its screen. On the screen, you can see the earth as a globe in space (decal print).
The seated posture and gestures are based on the Christian Orthodox iconography of the Pantocrator: Pantocrator is a specific depiction of Christ and has the meaning of the Almighty, the ruler of all. The oldest known surviving example is in Saint Catherine´s Monastery in the desert of the Sinai. The image of the Christ Pantocrator: he holds the New Testament in his left hand and makes the gesture of teaching or of blessing with his right.
