This tiny pit-fired tablet proclaims who I am and what this object is using cuneiform: the worlds oldest writing system. On one side in English and the other in Spanish, both languages are transliterated into the beautiful wedge-shaped script. I state who I am and my lineage, much like kings of old. I sign the work the ancient way with impressed fingernail marks (on reverse). By emulating the past I can use clay, a humble material, and make an object that can say more than just the words on it. It is about me as a maker, it is about human history.
