Signs of Good Adulting: worked, showered, dressed cute, vacuumed, made my bed, did laundry, cooked real food, had a glass of wine, smiled a lot, complimented myself"
The Journals Project started to create a physical living journal with porcelain. Each is a daily log of important thoughts, moments or quotes. The physical vessel is also formed in a way that resembles the overall feeling of the day.
I manipulate porcelain to mimic college ruled notebook paper. Paper and porcelain share a gorgeous translucent quality which diffuses light and allows written text to be seen through the opposite side of the paper. I am drawn to the familiarity of the spacing of the blue and read lines and binder holes as well as the frustration of that inevitable frayed edge. The ability to replicate a familiar object that is often balled up and trashed rather than treasured is important to me as I allow these often fleeting thoughts to now have permanence in porcelain.
