Fay De Winter

My sculptural practice begins with the observation of Puerto Rican birds as mirrors of human behavior. In their gestures, rhythms, and ways of inhabiting the environment, I recognize parallels to human experiences: adaptation, displacement, territoriality, and survival. Through these connections, I create works that question the perceived separation between nature and society, revealing how we share behavioral patterns that often go unnoticed. These pieces become platforms for critical reflection on the social context in which I live, highlighting tensions, inequalities, and collective dynamics that are repeated in both the natural and human worlds. By looking at birds, I propose a different way of understanding ourselves—not as external observers, but as part of the same ecosystem in constant transformation.
