My work transforms ordinary, discarded objects into abstract forms that transcend their original function and materialistic value. By reimagining everyday materials, I explore the intersection of utility, creativity, and sustainability, embedding each piece with the effort, time, and narrative of the creator. For this project, I used discarded plastic forks from American school cafeterias, contrasting with my cultural background, where chopsticks and spoons are traditional. Through material experimentation, I manipulated the prongs using heat, reshaping them into organic, abstract forms to breathe new life into objects typically considered waste. I also incorporated recycled aluminum cans, abundant in urban environments due to high consumption of carbonated beverages. The ring component was cast from melted aluminum, highlighting the transformative potential of discarded materials. By reshaping these objects, I aim to inspire a deeper appreciation for the hidden stories and possibilities within overlooked materials.
