Rosie Dinsmore

I gather inspiration from slow and meditative processes, drawing from long idea walks along cracked icy sidewalks through tree lined streets. I wish for the narratives within my work to wander like a mind in flow-state or one enthralled by a good story. Moldmaking and slip-casting allow me to customize my ceramic canvases to create vessels, paneled like story pages, ready for meticulous decoration. I find working with clay so rewarding because I feel such an innate and shareable intimacy in the functional results. I see my pottery as illustrations that can be held, worn, lived with, and served from. Just as children treasure their favorite toys and objects of comfort, I like to invest time and care into my small-scale and meanderingly detailed work. Seeing my work connect with others gives me so much joy and gratitude to keep creating.
