Alexandra Kosciak

In my work as a therapist conversations about small moments with big meaning were central to my everyday practice. In my ceramic work small objects made with simple ordinary items are meant to invite bigger connections and conversations. So often the ‘aha’ moment in therapy came from gaining a new perspective by seeing that small moment in a different light. By using everyday objects like a comb, a pie crimper or corrugated cardboard to texture the surface of functional pieces I am hoping to evoke both the familiar and curious. I am hoping to create that “tip of the tongue” feeling that stops you in your tracks, makes you search your memory, and shift your perception until you come upon that very same ‘aha’ moment.
