My work focuses on the relationship between my Chinese and American identity through the use of ceramic, wood, and light. I use ceramics to understand the deeply historical culture of my Chinese heritage in combination with contemporary forms of light, neon, and wood to understand the American aspects of my identity that are still being formed. The collaboration of materials, cultures, and languages question how divergent concepts can be held within one body.
