Rebecca Fofonoff

I create functional, high-fire ceramics in Asheville, North Carolina. My work is informed by my environment in Western North Carolina. Whether through exploring local materials, incorporating botanical motifs from this clay-rich region onto surfaces or firing in community in atmospheric kilns that have a history in this area, I draw on the region around me to root and direct my work. I hope to create pots that, through everyday use, bring a grounding force and sense of place to the everyday, while increasing appreciation of the natural environment where clay materials are sourced—to bridge the gap between the objects we use and where they come from.
