Le XU

Le is a Philadelphia-based artist who began her ceramics practice in 2023, translating her background in landscape architecture into a tactile medium. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she has worked as a registered landscape architect in Philadelphia since 2017 and is a LEED BD+C accredited professional. Her built work spans schoolyards, ecological restoration projects, museum landscapes, and national parks, with a focus on sustainable, nature-based design across the Philadelphia region. Her ceramic work was featured in Small Favors 2025. Much like her landscape practice, Le’s ceramics are grounded in a deep appreciation for natural systems. Working primarily with hand-building techniques and underglaze, she explores the balance between structure and organic expression. Drawing inspiration from native plants and natural irregularities, she embraces imperfection as an essential quality of both landscapes and material processes. Her work invites close looking and tactile engagement, fostering a quieter, more intimate connection to the earth. Each piece reflects a merging of her design sensibility with her evolving artistic voice.
