In my current artistic journey, I draw inspiration from the timeless craft of clay work, with the Matka form taking center stage. Its iconic spherical shape and functional design have symbolized domesticity, growth, and fertility across generations, tracing its roots back to the ancient Indus Valley civilization. Clay serves as my medium of choice, facilitating a reconnection to my cultural heritage. Through my ongoing exploration, I delve into geometric motifs, crafting abstract urban landscapes from a bird's-eye view. These patterns represent the tension between tradition and the encroaching forces of urbanization—a struggle deeply intertwined with my personal experiences in contemporary India. Having navigated life in post-colonial India and abroad, my work confronts the complexities of reconciling Western ideals with deeply ingrained traditions. It serves as a platform for me to wrestle with questions of cultural identity amidst societal transformations. At the core of my practice lies the integration of textured fabric within the clay, creating a mesmerizing interplay of concealment and revelation. As the fired clay unveils landscapes reminiscent of settlements, each piece becomes a testament to life's unpredictable journey, where moments of clarity emerge from ambiguity. My artistic pursuit transcends craftsmanship, delving into the intricate relationship between objects and their surroundings. Fueled by a fervent desire to breathe new life into forgotten elements, I infuse each creation with renewed vitality and significance. Drawing from a diverse array of personal experiences, my work becomes a fusion of time, memory, and an insatiable urge to unearth the overlooked.
