My work explores emotions and archetypes through figurative characters. I seek to understand my relationship to my emotions and the world around me through these characterizations; while they are not self portraits, they are self based, and serve as a way to explore a question or emotional problem. What is this feeling, positive or negative? Why do I feel this way? What context is this within? And, what narrative context is this figure being placed in by the viewer? These are questions I seek to explore.
My work is coil built, low fire stoneware. I utilize underglazes, washes and overlapping shapes to add narrative space to these characters.
