As a functional potter, my work is primarily wheel thrown and rather meticulous. I focus on form and thrive on making things that fit together; I strive for consistency. At the same time, I recognize the need to deviate from my daily ways. To work smaller. To add elements of whimsy. Returning to my hand building roots, I have begun making work based around the pinch pot, a ubiquitous essential form. It can be transformed into any number of – still functional – things. A spoon. A mug. Even a bell!
