I love objects. I have always been attracted to the odd moments between their expressions of functionality (whatever that means), how we interact with them, and how they might serve us in different ways, indifferently.
The history of ceramics undeniably brings with it the look and feel of relics of human culture and fabrication. Working with clay allows me to play with the surreal nostalgia of objects and ideas, and to see what happens when certain elements of an object are interrupted and altered- such as scale, texture, or structure. At this hand-held scale, objects can became almost iconic, but in a personal, obtainable way.
