I love objects. I have always been attracted to the odd moments between their expressions of functionality (whatever that means), how we interact with them, and how they might serve us in different ways, indifferently. Working with clay has allowed me to play with the surreal nostalgia of objects and ideas, and to see what happens when certain elements of an object are interrupted and altered such as scale, texture, or structure. One of the interesting things I’ve come to notice about this hand-held scale is that an object becomes iconic, but in a personal, obtainable way.
