Emma Wilson

Pre-pandemic, physical contact was often overlooked, but distancing orders emphasized our strong link between physical interaction and socializing. Through surreal clay sculptures depicting a new human species with exaggerated fingers, my work explores human behavior, posthumanism, and absurdism. Fingers symbolize the human desire for communication and touch, highlighting touch as a fundamental aspect of our humanity. The sculptures playfully delve into the abstract qualities of life, acknowledging the inherent absurdity of our existence. Serving as an ode to physical contact, my work offers a comical perspective on intimacy, presenting unusual forms that reflect the whimsical and absurd nature of being human.
