Marria Nakhoda

My work is in honor of common and over-looked objects that can be found in our natural world. I take great joy in studying them and creating my own imitations. Most recently I have been doing so with clay. I am able to work three-dimensionally in a lifelike scale (or not). Compositionally, and consequently aesthetically, the medium is similar to my subjects’. It is an efficient and practical fit just as much as it is a metaphorical one — clay is humble and abundant much like the objects I am emulating. It has a plainness to it, but can be easily reintroduced as remarkable.
