Kristin Muller

Growing up in a multicultural and lingual home visual language has been influenced my approach to ceramics. From the moment I was introduced to wood firing and the wabi-sabi aesthetic I have been immersed in both learning and understanding the subtleties of Japanese ceramic culture and finding my own space within this aesthetic. While most of my sculptural work begins with a more natural and intuitive way of working these drinking vessels are like small meditations on tea bowl forms. I fire for 6-7 days in an anagama kiln and continually experiment with different methods of forming, glazing, and firing. I love that with art we can create our own worlds.
