Sarah Stone

As an experienced creative in the advertising industry, I reacquainted myself with ceramic art as a way to decompress and express my own creative vision. I work in porcelain, usually creating wheel thrown pieces that I further manipulate or embellish. My inspiration, for both form and motif, almost always comes back to elements of nature. I think of glaze as a dynamic part of the process and consider how it will react with my forms but delight in the surprising outcomes. As in nature, I see no sense in trying to be too controlling in the outcomes and embrace the beauty of what happens organically.
