Norah Stone
Hoping to resemble mysterious artifacts from our actively dying planet, Norah Stone’s uncanny, animalistic sculptures huddle in on themselves as if they are bracing for impact. Much of her labor is spent hand-building soft, embryonic forms that veer into sharp, aggressive points as well as learning how to achieve weathered, enticing surfaces in an electric kiln. Interested in the relationship between the physical and digital, the organic and man-made, she often utilizes image-making skills gleaned from an extensive background in Graphic Design with material experimentation that brings epoxy, discarded objects, insect carcasses and other biological remnants into the final assemblage.
