The usual response to the horror of daily life is to block it out, to isolate yourself from it or deny its existence. In my work I utilize the grotesque to create objects for daily use that offer an alternative viewpoint – a glad acceptance of and interest in the muck and mayhem of reality. These objects bring the nature of the macabre into your home, erasing the boundary between internal and external, interior and exterior. The job of the artist is to reflect on people and things - it is to react to culture, to make a world, and tell a story. I am telling the story of our everyday existence, challenging comfortable assumptions about normality, beauty, death and the ways in which we make sense of the world
