Sofia Olexia-Daigle

Sofia Olexia-Daigle is a multidisciplinary artist from Louisiana working in ceramics and glass. Inspired by the wetlands surrounding New Orleans, her work explores connections between womanhood, identity, and environmental landscapes. Drawing from her Cajun heritage, she incorporates imagery of marsh ecosystems and wildlife—especially alligators—as symbols of feminine strength, resilience, and transformation. Her sculptures often take the form of ceramic dolls combined with blown glass elements, merging the permanence of clay with the fluid fragility of glass. Influenced by personal narratives and stories of resilience following Hurricane Katrina, Olexia-Daigle’s work reflects on community, memory, and the power of water as both a destructive and life-giving force. Through her work, she creates space for diverse representations of women and shared human experience.
