Yolanda M Lawas
As a ceramic artist, I enjoy creating sculptural and functional pottery that evokes joy and wonder. I am inspired to create pottery that promotes well-being, peace, and love.
In addition to making full-sized pieces, I produce miniature vases and other forms in stoneware and porcelain. I welcome the challenge of throwing elegant, one-inch vessels on a full-sized wheel, as well as the tactile experience of handbuilding with textured slabs and pinch pots.
I love not only the whole process of creating pottery, but also the connections I make with those interested in my art. It is priceless to see and hear reactions of delight when people view my pottery. I am so privileged and honored to be able to create art that is treasured by others and chosen as gifts or collected for themselves.
I believe that all people – young, old, and in between – should regularly experience awe, and nurture joy and love within themselves. I hope that this, along with playfulness, are reflected in my work.
