Janet Gaddy

As a former Art Professor, and Professional Artist, I have created and taught using a variety of media. Creating with the oldest art forms of pottery and weaving, to the newest medium of digital art, making each become my own personal art experience. Since a study abroad experience in Italy, the majority of my artistic expressions focus on the medium of clay in both ceramics and sculpture. My creative process with clay is much like that of any other art form I have mastered. It begins with a thought or idea that becomes an exciting challenge to put into reality. This approach can become particularly difficult while utilizing custom formulated crystalline glazes that are known for their unpredictable results and the challenging placement of a pieces on the necessary glaze catchers to accommodate fluid glazes. I most often mix hand building with sculptural techniques along with the potter’s wheel. I am presently in the process of experimenting with various clay types and their effects on my own crystalline glaze formulas.
