In my body of work, I choose to explore the concepts of life and death, and the intersections of the two. I especially love to play with the notion of death as something that is interwoven in the lightest parts, that it is not simply an end to life. I also like to utilize theme of the grotesque, and things that are not necessarily visually pleasing.I seek to find ways to not only express myself, my own experiences, and practices through my art, but to also include the ways in which these things are also extremely uncomfortable; especially the act of making yourself vulnerable, by allowing my inner world a chance to become one with the outer world. I want to express how difficult and excruciating the act of vulnerability is, and that outside of being a beautiful form of expression, that it is also a painful, uncomfortable, visceral experience. I want others to find themselves in my work, to feel that the things that are hard to say and share are not just difficult to them, but to everyone, and that these feelings, to be put simply, are not to be something that is shameful.
