My name is Elena, I am trying to help audience through my ceramic sculptures to reach out to our inner self to find out our deep long forgotten inner child, our childhood memories including joys and even fears. My sculptures embraces my background (MA) in different types of literature as international folk tales, fairytales. I try to create different figures and even tell stories that have been probably influenced by my favorite art works of Dali, Chagall, Bosch and Miro, reaching out to our roots of Nature , exploring the nature of femininity, modern stereotypes, and new archetypes of femininity starting from our inner childhood memories of the first walk in the forest, first swim in the ocean, first story of fairy tale that has been read at night time, even first nightmare experienced in a sleep. I am trying to use as much as possible underglaze and experience with different surfaces and colors trying to perfect my tools to create and depict a fantasy world filled with amazing creatures that are at the same time touch and frighten, and sometimes enchanting. I take lessons at the Lisa Naples studio, that I absolutely love for its professionalism, structure and at the same time filled with so much positive energy that enables students to express themselves with so much freedom not being afraid for being judged or banal labeled.
