Bridget Langholz

Every piece I make is a love letter, a thoughtfully written message. Some are crafted for everyone, others are created with fondness for a few. The atrocities of the world are heavy and leave me feeling stagnant. I create ceramic art to process hardship in the world and remind myself and others of the resilience found in collectivity. Surreal sculptural works represent biographical themes from chronic anxiety, to love, to platonic intimacy. I touch on themes of tenderness, sadness, queerness, eco-grief and community. I process grief through crafting pieces that honor joy. These pieces show others how hope and beauty coexist with grief, loss and pain. Often I insert imagery of mending, sewing and crocheting as a metaphor for the delicate and involved fixing needed within ourselves and our greater society. Little details display the thoughtfulness, care and tender intricacies required for the world to begin to mend
