Mahyulee Colatat

Mahyulee Colatat is a ceramic artist making small-batch pottery at her home studio in St. Louis, Missouri. May is inspired by Korean and Japanese pottery traditions, especially their reverence for nature and imperfection. She also draws on the vibrant colors and patterns in Spanish and Moroccan tiles. May has been a ceramicist since 2019. She attended a series of community and online ceramic courses and is currently studying with Norleen Nosri at St. Louis Community College. Beyond ceramics, May earned a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and runs her own business as a leadership coach. As a scientist, she’s curious about how lives unfold over time: “How do we find our way, both true to ourselves and open to serendipity?” Likewise, May explores these themes of discovery and emergence in her artwork.
