My most recent body of work was created using tools I designed during my final years teaching Science at the Hawken School in Ohio. My former school had a fully equipped maker space where I was encouraged to learn to use the technology and facilitate student use through my science class. I became interested in creating tools to use for ceramics and a whole new way to create ceramic work opened up to me after I created laser cut rolling pins from my doodles. I learned to hand build, and under the mentorship of Sara Truman, I’ve improved the quality and variety of my work. I’ve always been a learner, usually from my students, and I love the endless possibilities for creativity, form and function that comes with creating work with clay.
