Harri Kalha, writes that Ceramics are an art for the hand, not just the eye. An object that can be held in one’s hand, or at least in one’s lap, a surface to fondle -such are the basic virtues of “ceramicness”. My pots are made for us to hold but also consider the daily events in life. Coffee in bed, the food they contain, becoming aware of the life around us. Sometimes the form is simply comfortable, with a lip that feels good and other times, I add clouds crying, weather patterns with hurricane symbols on the surface. These images remind us that we are a part of a bigger world when we drink or eat from them.
