My interest and drive manifests at the crossroads of the prosaic and the uncanny. Countless mediums serve as a vehicle for this exploration; clay, crayons, music, singing and laughing. I am captivated by the creatures that exist in those shadowy corners of my mind, which are both unique yet universal at the same time. These images of internal worlds are shaped and molded by my own external lived experience, reactive to my surroundings, and driven by a feeling that perhaps by making work I may inch closer to the mysteries of my own subconscious. This is explored through automatic mark making on 2D and 3D surfaces as well as meditative tactile practices such as coil building, pinching clay and wheel throwing. I believe that these practices push me towards a state of transcendence while making, where the body and mind are in a state of harmony. These moments allow for the healing and processing of life expressed through action and reaction to my material.
