Anna Schroeder
Anna Schroeder is a clay sculptor based in Durham, NC. Her work offers a unique perspective on both the joy of escapism and the urgency of challenging societal norms.
She creates whimsical fantasy sculptures that aim to capture the magic and wonder of alternate realities through intricate details and fantastical narratives. In paralell, she also uses her art to address the societal issues that make us want to escape this reality. In recent work, she creates bold and mystical body sculptures that embody the range of emotions and experiences of living in a fatphobic culture. Through her body sculptures, she seeks to dismantle harmful stereotypes, foster empathy, and encourage a more inclusive and accepting society.
