Georgena Senior

My material focus is handbuilt, sculptural ceramics supported by screenprinting and illustration. My work centers around themes of archetypes, the varied global cultural ephemera surrounding ancient mythology (and the uniting themes found there), sigils and other forms of iconography that represent our human experiences. I also make select functional ceramic pieces to bring these themes into our everyday spaces: relatable and supportive ideas sometimes literally drawn/written onto the works. Project-specific rituals, writing, and visual meditation are as important to my work as my sketchbook, clay, and tools. I seek understanding through observation of all that the universe shows us and all that has yet to be revealed. I look to share these observations with others through my art. Clay has proven to be a perfect medium for this work.
