As a child, I wanted nothing more than to grow up. As an adult, I only want time to slow down. Inspired by the wonder and nostalgia of childhood, I frequently find myself reminiscing over memories and thoughts that once filled my head. My work is often colorful and covered in a variety of patterns and textures. Whether it is influenced by the pattern on my grandparent’s curtains or the patches on my favorite teddy bear, each work is a little reminder of something from my past. As we allow clothing to intimately interact with our lives, my desire is to create pots that invite the same relationship. I visually break down the basic components of fabric and translate these elements through slab building to create unique organic forms. These forms reference the soft angles, corners, and folds found among fabric, while a combination of glossy and matte glazes allows subtle changes of texture. Through this translation, my work offers a visual and tactile interest that further encourages interaction between the maker, object, and user.
