Born China and now living in America, the east was hometown but the west becomes home. The relationship between east and west is entangled in my personal identity. I explore the relationship between east and west through the scope of ceramic artefacts. Throughout history, cultural exchange created ceramic objects that resisted any identifications of singular origins. I appropriate these ambiguous objects to recreate “me” narcissistically. My identity retold in sculptural forms is grand, inflated and boastful yet insecure. These feelings are the contemporary reality of evolving cultural identities.
