Martha Kent Martin Artist’s Statement After experiencing the extensive diversity of plantings in a friend's garden, one late spring, I began to work from the observation of nature. There were delicate indigenous, healing plants shrouded in shade, brightly hued early bloomers basking in the sun invasives taking an energetic, choking hold, well tended, strong shrubbery and deadfall, winter's toll waiting to be gathered for compost. My work aims to imperfectly represent the observable, magical, influential and infinite inhabitants of the world that surrounds us.
