Imagination as a way of escaping reality is a core element in the creation of my ceramic work. I have stories in mind while creating each character, but leave plenty of room for others to imagine their own narrative while viewing my pieces. My current body of work is a somewhat literal interpretation of storytelling. These creatures are inspired by nature, history, folklore, myths, and even nightmares but with a charming, mischievous twist. They are all part of the same fantastical world, but each piece has its own history, a life lived, a story to tell. The viewer can relate to the characters unique details and imperfections as part of a story yet to be discovered or escape for a moment, imagining a story of happiness, adventure, or solidarity with their own life.
