My work explores the concept of escapist storytelling through the creation of ceramic sculptures of overgrown landscapes and alien creatures. The pieces mimic organic growth seen in nature with repeated elements and cascading forms. Crowded compositions and saturated colors also allude to an otherworldly origin. Each piece is sculpted, glazed, and embellished with colorful glass beads. Pastels are used on the unglazed matte elements of the sculpture, adding a sharp contrast to the glossy creatures. My pieces can stand alone, but when viewed together visually they tell the story of the vibrant and chaotic world I am creating.
