From the tiny form of an embryo to human remains, these hand-molded ceramic sculptures explore our human existence. We were all born and we cannot stop the slow decline of the body over time. By depicting the process of development in the human body, these pieces question: Where does one begin and end and what is life in light of death? While I often depict specific people and their particular features, the underlying themes of life and death are universal. We live with weaknesses, losses, and hope. We often wonder at the mystery surrounding death and the mysterious essence in each individual. We wonder if there is any evidence for a spirit that transcends death.
